Bansard International is aware of the role of each individual in safeguarding the balance of our planet, and makes sure that the environmental and societal impacts of each of its decisions are integrated into its strategy. This approach is desired by the group in order to build a healthy and sustainable relationship with its employees, customers, suppliers and partners.
THE GROUP'S VALUES AND PRINCIPLES
On a global scale, industries linked to manufactured products and the transport of goods remain one of the factors linked to the intensification of global warming. They are at the center of this problem: how to implement a sustainable development strategy while controlling and reducing costs?
Unfortunately, the means of transport with "zero impact" on the environment does not yet exist, but it is nevertheless possible to implement solutions or optimizations at different levels.
DISCOVER OUR CSR APPROACH
- I. Work with green committed and reliable partners
- II. Transparency and accountability for all of our CO2 Emissions
- III. Offer not only economical but also ecological solutions!
- IV. Deploy a "citizen approach" within our agencies
- V. Work towards obtaining recognized labels
- VI. Focus on the development of our employees
I. WORK WITH GREEN COMMITTED AND RELIABLE PARTNERS
By selecting like-minded, reliable suppliers who mirror and support our quality and environmental approach, in the Airline sector, we are proud to work with such companies:
Lufthansa has succeeded in continually reducing its kerosene consumption and CO2 emissions due to its change from fossil fuels to the use of sustainable alternative fuel (source LH).
AirBridgeCargo has reduced its CO2 emissions by 16%, noise pollution by 30%, and aims to reduce its additional fuel consumption (source RU).
At the end of January 2022, the group committed to the Air France KLM Martinair Cargo SAF Programme to reduce CO2 emissions in the air freight sector by up to 85% (read the full article).

On the maritime sector side, the new IMO 2020 regulation has undertaken actions that will reduce sulfur emissions by more than 80%. Our partners, such as:
CMA CGM cut its global CO2 emissions by 4% compared to 2019 in 2020 and reduced their CO2 emissions per container by 10% of in 2017 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GGE) by 80-90%, thanks to the use of biofuels. (source CMA CGM)
Maersk has been able to reduce its CO2 emissions by 46.3% compared to 2008 baseline. (source Maersk).
Since 2011, MSC has reduced the use of more than 2 million tons of CO2 each year, saving 55,000 tons of fuel per year (source MSC).
From a purely logistical point of view, our partners are also selected according to their level of eco-responsibility, favoring the use of electronic equipment, such as forklifts, powered by renewable sources, and the use of recycled and/or recyclable materials.
We are proud to work with our partners who pay as much attention to their ecological footprint as we do.
II. TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ALL OF OUR CO2 EMISSIONS
As mentioned earlier, "zero impact" types of transport do not exist yet; nevertheless, it is still essential to know how much we emit. With this in mind, Bansard International has developed a Business Intelligence solution: a reporting service to monitor at all times the amount of CO2 emissions according to the mode of transport used. This online customization dashboard allows our customers to calculate their Carbon Footprint by viewing their CO2 footprint history. To assist our customers in their decision, we also offer a comparison according to the different modes of transport.
An emission comparator by type of transport is also available to assist our customers in their decision-making.
III. OFFER NOT ONLY ECONOMICAL BUT ALSO ECOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS!
We plan and encourage and make available the use of alternative modes of transport such as rail and inland waterway transport, which are ways to be taken into account, especially with the recent development of the infrastructure in Europe, the United States and China, which make these services increasingly competitive.
The optimization of road transport, thanks to the implementation of our IT solutions, allows the application of optimized routes and reverse logistics, maximizing the return journeys of our trucks and containers, so that a minimum of travel is not made empty.
On the logistics side, we encourage the use of eco-responsible warehouses equipped with electronic equipment. The use of WMS allows more relevant management of our customers' inventories and the use of recyclable, recycled or reusable packaging (just like our current ULD covers used in air freight).
In June 2021, the group decided to invest in the purchase of new P400 trailers, which will enable it to offer new services to its customers with clear advantages: speed, reliability and environmental friendliness. They have been designed for rail and motorway transport, since thanks to a loading system, they can be placed on a specific wagon and thus move on the rail network.
IV. DEPLOY A "CITIZEN APPROACH" WITHIN OUR AGENCIES
On a human scale, changing the way we work on a daily basis is a necessity.
Within Bansard International, each office is encouraged to reduce its environmental impact as much as possible. Each office is instructed to limit its energy consumption, supplies and stationery, to sort and recycle, to encourage the use of emails and eDocs instead of paper mail...
On an individual basis, each employee of the group is encouraged to carry out actions in favour of the environment in his or her daily office life. Many actions have already been undertaken, for example within our e-commerce subsidiary Crosslog International, outdoor installations have been made by our teams by recycling used pallets. Also, in order to reduce plastic waste, new water fountains have been installed and personalized, reusable water bottles have been distributed to employees!
V. WORKS TOWARDS OBTAINING RECOGNIZED LABELS
Bansard France is becoming more professional with recognized labels/standards. The company has obtained the 6PL label (the only French label targeting the activities of logistics sites of industrialists, distributors and logisticians) for the Paris -CDG branch, issued by the Logistique Seine Normandie (LSN) association and the Club Logistique du Havre. This label, in compliance with the Grenelle II law, is based on 5 main areas:
This label bears witness to the will and the means implemented by the certified companies to reduce their environmental impact, to optimize their energy performance and their proactivity with regard to the new regulations and standards in force or to come, in terms of sustainable logistics.
VI. FOCUS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR EMPLOYEES
Gender Equality Index for the year 2021: 75/100
Details of the score according to the indicators:
- Pay gap indicator: 25/40
- Indicator relating to the gap in the rate of individual increases: 35/35
- Indicator on % of female employees who received a raise within one year of returning from maternity leave: 15/15
- Indicator relating to the number of employees of the under-represented sex among the 10 employees with the highest salaries: 0/10
Progress targets are set for each of the indicators for which the maximum score has not been achieved.
The company therefore intends to make commitments in the following areas:
- For the pay gap indicator, the company has set itself the objective of achieving a score of 30 during the year 2022 (index published in 2023).
- For the indicator relating to the number of employees of the under-represented gender among the 10 highest paid employees, the company aims to achieve a score of 5 during the year 2022 (index published in 2023).
