Ocean Alliance to undergo massive structural changes as 'Day 3' approaches. Here's what's in it for Bansard International, as well as how those changes will affect the group's activities for the coming years.
The OCEAN ALLIANCE (CMA CGM, APL, EVERGREEN, COSCO and OOCL) was launched in Spring 2017. It's Day 2 product was launched in April last year and had an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.6 million TEUs. This year's product, namely the 'Day 3', will bring further improved optimisation and an even more competitive offer, including : 38 services, 330 vessels (of which 111 provided by CMA CGM Group) and a total increased capacity of 700,000 TEUs ; raising the total number of TEUs all the way up to 3.86 million, according to CMA CGM Group Chairman and CEO, Rodolphe Saadé.
OCEAN ALLIANCE's Day 3 Products will be launched from beginning of April and the services are going to be greatly upgraded as a consequence. The Group claims it will bring 'the largest service offer on the Transpacific trade' with :
- 19 services,
- A strengthened offer between Asia and Europe with the addition of a seventh service,
- A large offer between Asia and the Mediterranean with four services,
- Two Transatlantic services linking North Europe to the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico,
- Two Asia-Red Sea services,
- Becoming the only alliance offering four services between Asia and the Middle East.
